I'm a Pagan and have been happily married to my Pagan Gal for nearly 20 years. We believe in monogamy for ourselves and others that choose it, and we have always been faithful to each other and we are still sweethearts. Now, I'm not saying we should follow these primal instincts and live in hordes again with tribe leaders getting all the females as in ancient cavemen times. I sure wouldn't want to be wife 14 of some tyrant. All I'm saying is, these primal instincts are still with us. They subconsciously still dictate a large part of our behavior, whether we like it or not with our modern concepts of fairness and social norms. And that's the reason a "manogamy movement" will never be more than a quirky idea of a random blogger. I wasn't aware of the different female preferences by cycle, but it makes perfect sense. Thanks! Also, studies have shown that women prefer a different type of man depending on her cycle, being drawn to the Alpha Male fearless leader type at their most fertile, while finding the tamer, less aggresive men more attractive when they're not ovulating. This is because the Alpha Male's genes will ensure better survival and reproduction success chances of the offspring but the Beta Male is more likely to stick around, provide for and help raise the offspring. So what women do? They get attached with the Beta but have sex with the Alpha when opportunity arises. Commonly known as cheating. :) That's a phenomenon not even limited to human species. Going by nature, it would seem that serial monogamy is the best compromise for both genders as far as far as ensurig the survival of our kind goes. Or open relationships. It does not seem to be in human nature to remain monogamous with anyone.
