The NYT posted an interesting article about the prevalence of open relationships in the gay community.  I was somewhat familiar with this as Matthew, the guy nice enough to transfer the Manogamy.com rights to me, is a gay man in an 8-year monogamous relationship.  He noted how rare this was because many gay individuals do not practice monogamy.

The article also discusses open heterosexual relationships.  The notion of non-monogamy/open relationships/polyamory really boils my blood.  There have been numerous books written on the subject matter and people discuss how it saved their marriage.  Really? Most people probably would be happier if they could screw whoever they wanted, but you should not tarnish the name of marriage in the process.  As I always say, if you want to live the frat boy lifestyle, then do what you do.  But if you are going to be serious with one person and get married, then you marry that one person and one person only.  End of story.
