I just want to briefly address the infamous quote from Comedian Chris Rock

“Men are as faithful as their options. If they have no opportunity to cheat, they won’t.”

1. What does it mean to be faithful? Sexting is still cheating.

2. What does it mean to have an opportunity? You have the OPPORTUNITY to flirt with anyone on Facebook.  Before the Internet, our scope of “eligible” women were limited to women that we could actually see.  However, now we can talk to people that we’ve never even met before.

3. There are men that have self-control.  I personally don’t think that ANY man should get married until he believes that he could turn down his “it woman” (i.e. Megan Fox, Kim Kardashian, Beyonce, Frieda Pinto, etc.).  Monogamy is about KNOWING that you will be faithful even when your circumstances change (i.e. you get a promotion, your wife puts on some pounds, you get a new hot coworker).

In sum, we really need to stop using this phrase because men try to use it to justify their indiscretions.

Really doesn’t matter if a dude thinks he can turn down his It woman or not, because the vast majority of men won’t even have the opportunity to do so … hence Rock’s quote. : )

I completely disagree. Men have an option every time they are in the same proximity of attractive women (work, school, elevator, gym). Now that we have the Intetnet, there are endless opportunities and options to cheat. Adult Friend Finder and Ashley Madison are options and millions of men exercise them.

I believe that there are men that will never cheat nomattet what. That means even if man is in a hotel room with Beyonce, Kim K, Frienda Pinto, and Megan Fox and they all come on to him, he will quickly leave the room.

Don’t believe me? Just watch me. I’ve put myself out there by creating this blog and I’m not going to throw it away by an act of infidelity.

I didn’t say men don’t have the option of cheating. I said most men will never have the option to cheat with any of those women you’ve listed. Therefore, like Rock said, the degree of their faithfulness could be seen as relative. Sure many men can turn down the woman at work, but can most men turn down (enter celebrity here)? Doubt it.

I’m sure there are many guys who don’t cheat and who never will. And I think that’s great.

And as far as your own fidelity is concerned, I believe you mentioned in an earlier post that you believe the Bible says adultery occurs even when you’ve looked at a woman with lust. I don’t know you like that, but I find it hard to believe that you’ve never looked at a woman with lust. So if you actually believe that verse, should not you include your face somewhere between Jesse’s and Jude’s?

And lastly, regarding your desire to never commit a physical act of adultery, I hope you never do either. But make sure you don’t think you’re “above” it – ‘Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed that he does not fall.’ 1 Cor 10:12
